2003 Mitsubishi Lancer L4-2.0L SOHC

TIMING BELT REMOVAL 

CAUTION: The crankshaft should always be turned only clockwise.

1. Turn the crankshaft clockwise (right turn) to align each timing mark and to set the number 1 cylinder at compression top dead center.

2. Loosen the tension pulley fixing bolt. CAUTION: If the timing belt is to be re-used, use chalk to mark (on its flat side) an arrow indicating the clockwise direction.

3. Place a screwdriver against the tensioner pulley and pry it fully back in the direction of the arrow.

4. Temporarily tighten the tensioner pulley bolt.

5. Remove the timing belt.
