The heater core in your 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix contains a winding tube that exchanges heat between the engine's heated coolant and the air in the vehicle cabin. Small fins attached to the tubes within the core provide a greater surface area for heating purposes. Air is propelled through the tubes and into the cabin by the vehicle's ventilation system. It is advisable to replace the heater core at the first sign of failure, especially if you live in an area that often requires the use of the window defroster.
