1976 Cadillac DeVille Troubleshoot Air Conditioning Blower

The air conditioning blower in your 1976 Cadillac DeVille is essentially a fan that is mounted inside the passenger cabin behind the glove box. The blower is responsible for blowing air into the cabin area. Replacement blowers are available from most auto parts stores or directly from a Cadillac dealership. However, before you replace the blower, troubleshoot the problem. While a non-functioning blower usually means that you need to replace it, there is another common issue that you might be having.

This process does not require tools.

Troubleshoot Air Conditioning Blower

Open the fuse panel under the steering column of your Cadillac. Pull down on the fuse panel cover to do this.

Pull the fuse for the blower using the fuse pullers in the fuse panel. Use the fuse diagram on the underside of the fuse cover and locate the fuse marked "blower." This is the AC blower motor.

Check the metal strip inside the fuse. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage.

Turn on the blower motor/fan. If the fan will not start, the fan needs to be replaced.
