How to Install Turn Signals on 1981 Chevrolet El Camino

The turn signals on your 1981 Chevrolet El Camino are important safety features. If they begin to malfunction, you could be involved in an accident. In addition to the possibility of an accident, many states have given their police forces the authority to issue citations for driving with faulty lights. Installing the turn signals on your El Camino is fairly simple and requires either 1157NA bulbs for the front-turn signals or 1157 bulbs for the rear turn-signals.

Tools Used: Phillips screwdriver, Clean cloth, Replacement bulb

Install Turn Signals

Front Turn Signal

Turn off the El Camino's engine and open the hood.

Remove the three headlamp retainer screws using a screwdriver.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the assembly and pull the headlamp assembly out of the vehicle.

Place the headlamp assembly back into the vehicle and reattach the electrical connector. Reinstall the three headlamp retainer screws and close the hood.
